Pemberdayaan Orang Asli Papua Melalui UMKM Guna Meningkatkan Perekonomian di Kabupaten Merauke

Abstract

This thesis is entitled Empowering Indigenous Papuans Through MSMEs to Improve the Economy in Merauke Regency. The problem behind the researcher taking this title is the marketing of MSME products which is still not optimal and the lack of adequate infrastructure. The purpose of this study was to find out how indigenous Papuans empowered through UMKM in Merauke district, the inhibiting factors and efforts made to overcome these problems. This study uses Oos M. Anwas's theory of empowerment, especially community empowerment. This theory has several dimensions, namely (1) community, (2) cultural values and local wisdom, (3) community participation, (4) facilitators, (5) social and economic aspects. Primary data sources were obtained from interviews and observations, while secondary data were obtained from documentation. The results of this research are conducting training, counseling, and building networking to support the empowerment of MSME actors. In the implementation of empowerment there are inhibiting factors such as obstacles for MSME actors in marketing or selling their products, as well as the lack of budget in empowering MSME actors. Suggestions from researchers are to be able to help improve facilities optimally so that they can maximally help MSME actors.
